New Look for Old Development
March 29--In 1977, when White Flint mall opened its doors, it was envisioned as a state-of-the-art meeting place for shoppers. Since anchor tenant I. Magnin closed in 1992, the mall has been reconfigured and now seems like a relic from the age of suburbia.

Last week, however, an "ambitious proposal to transform a large segment of Rockville Pike near White Flint into a vibrant, grand boulevard lined with villages where residents can live, shop, walk and play" passed unanimously through the Montgomery City Council. Read the story here.
